POSITION SUMMARY:
The inspector position examines materials and products for specification deviations or defects and monitors the production. They also reject and discard any defective product or material. Accurately inspecting product for conformance to prints, control plans, and specifications using inspection equipment including cut off saws, calipers, hardness testers and magnetic particle equipment.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Support Zion’s Strategic Foundations
- Assist in attaining 100% on-time delivery through completing timely in-process inspections, after temper checks and heat treat certifications.
- Accurate test results by mounting, polishing and testing as required.
- Following work instructions in accordance with documented quality system.
- Inspect products in accordance with control plans, prints and specifications as required.
- Maintain lot control and follow tagging procedures.
- Effectively communicate and cooperate with team members.
- Actively participate in and maintain Zion’s Safety and Housekeeping standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Perform proper part inspections per control chart.
- Perform timely inspections to allow for uninterrupted production.
- Ensure parts are acceptable for continued production.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to operate independently as well as part of a team
- Must be able to successfully communicate with other team members to ensure customer requirements are met
- Ability to read and follow Work Instructions
- Demonstrate steady, methodical, error-free work output
MACHINES/EQUIPMENT/TOOLS/WORK AIDES:
- Hardness testers
- Magnetic particle equipment
- Calipers
- Height Gages
- Cut off Saws
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Bending, stooping, standing, walking on hard surfaces
- Ability to lift 50 pounds throughout the shift
- Ability to work overtime as necessary
- Ability to work in hot environment
- Ability to use hands and arms to operate equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Shop environment.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
